excellent right out of the box

this computer arrived the 22nd of this month...took outta the box.......added another 4g of memory and this thing is fast. Have been a little worried as I know this version has not been out to long but i am completely satisfied. No problems once you figure windows 8 out. As a mid-range gamer I would have to give this 6 stars. At this time I have only played one game and that is WoW...runs anywhere from 60-100fps in starting zones. Have not tried dungeons or raiding with it at this time but will let you know. I run the autoselect for the video. It switches back and forth from the integrated graphics and the dedicated graphics when needed. For the price I will be buying another one in the near future. And I would also like to say Amazon customer service was excellent when I contacted them about the long wait to ship this computer. Talked with them Wednesday online and had the laptop here by 2 p.m. Friday. Thank you Randee!!!!

DO NOT BUY

I bought this laptop because of the great reviews for the other V3 models as a midrange gaming laptop. And the specs for this do lead you to believe it would do that. The GT 730m has some great benchmarks. Although the hard drive isn't the fastest and it doesn't have 16gb of ram, you get what you pay for. Once I got the unit, I opened it up and was thrilled. Nice and shinny, survived shipping, no problem. Loaded up Windows 8 and was slightly disappointed with it, although that is another issue completely (Hi Microsoft).
Up until this point, I am very satisfied with it. The honeymoon ended when I plugged in the AC adapted.
The computer just stopped working. Windows became extremely sluggish, and the track pad was un-usable. As I would move the mouse across the screen, it would select things as if I was holding down the left mouse button. It was jumping all over the screen for no reason, like it was possessed. I unplugged it, and everything went back to normal. Once you do some more research, you can find out Acer uses the cheapest POS trackpads money can buy and this is a problem with multiple models. If you use a external mouse, you could avoid this problem but you shouldn't have too. Everything should work out of the box as its intended, and trust me when I say something was messed up here.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Avoid this thing and get yourself a Toshiba or Asus or something, but save your time and money. For me, I guess I am going to go back to a tablet.
On the positive side, Amazon returns is great. This is one of the first times I've actually returned something and it was painless. WIthin 5 days they got the machine back, and have already started the refund process. 5 stars for Amazon, 1 star for this laptop.

Over the years, I bought three different Acer products: one laptop, one desktop, and one tablet. None of them has lasted over one year. The worst part is to deal with their customer service. My laptop has a loose hinge. They first say it was out of warranty and then say they made a mistake. After I spent over $30 to send it back, they said the loose hinge was caused by physical damage and asks for $200 to fix it. I asked them to send it back. When I received it, I was astonished; they bent the back cover. I am still thinking that is their trick to avoid their warranty service.
